Sister Dorothy Jean Richardson was born on April 28, 1946 in Evansville. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lucille Johnson, and Morris Sholar. She departed this life for a better life on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 4:20 a.m. surrounded by her family. To this union they were blessed with four children; Eric, who preceded her in death, two daughters, Erika Lowery (Chris) of Manhattan, KS and Jennifer Richardson of Nicholasville, KY, and one son, Eric Dewayne Richardson (Valerie) of Charlotte, NC. Sister Richardson accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age at Johnson’s Temple, COGIC. She was faithful to her church, Progressive Holy Temple, COGIC under the leadership of Elder William W. Simmons, Sr. Dorothy worked for the Lord through the Usher Board, Pastor’s Anniversary committee, and Sunshine Band for many years. She was employed with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for twenty-plus years. Sister Dorothy believed in the power of prayer, had an unshakeable faith in God and in the promise of God, that deliverance was possible from her final sick bed. But she knew that her home-going was equally possible in God’s sovereign plan and she calmly accepted God’s will. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; eight grandchildren, Kameron Milan, Lexis Lowery, C.J. Lowery, Morgan Tutt, Karae Fain, Ian Fain, Jazmyn Lowery, and Kai Fain. Mee Mee was preceded in death by her grandson, Kahari Lowery.
