Dorothy S. Kratz

She was a graduate of Reitz High School, Evansville College and Indiana University. She opened the Department of Social Services at Deaconess Hospital and was its Director for 20 years. She was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ and longtime board member and past president of SWIRCA. She was also the originator of the RSVP program. In addition to her professional life, Dorothy enjoyed yard work, gardening and traveling.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Kratz, in 1983; granddaughter, Laura Castro; and great-grandchildren, Nadia and Trevor.

She is survived by her sons, Roger (Carroll) Kratz of Evansville and Jon Jeffrey (Caroline) Kratz of Claxton, GA; grandchildren, Susan (Gene) Alexander of Claxton, GA, Rodney (Elizabeth) Kratz of Seattle, WA, Ryan (Melody) Kratz of Chicago, IL and Rustin Kratz and his fiancée, Julie, of Indianapolis, IN; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, September 3, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Tom Hubachek, with burial in Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
