Dorothy Mae Ashworth

Dorothy graduated from Bedford High School in 1942. She worked at Servel during WWII. She was a member at St. James West UMC and former member at Faith United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, where she was a member of the Missionary Group and former President. She was a member of Posey County Happy Homemakers Club and was honored to have been presented the Homemaker of the Year Award. She was married July 20, 1945, to her husband, John Victor and was married for 55 years until his death in December of 2000.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Victor; daughter, Mary Lynne Schreiber; son, Mark Ashworth; parents, Clarence and Mary (Zint) Ellis; brother, Ivan Ellis; and sister, Eva Ellis.

Dorothy is survived by daughter, Vickie Raleigh of Evansville; son, Kent Ashworth (Sherry) of Lakeland, FL; daughter, Cheryl Funkhouser (Jerry) of Mahomet, IL; grandchildren, Kurt Raleigh (Melissa), Aaron Raleigh (Elizabeth), Kristen Claybooke (Duanne), Ericka Withers (Chris), Kyle Funkhouser (Marina), Charles Blanchard (Tina) Jeff Blanchard, David Ashworth; and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gene Backes, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
