Donald "Don" Allen Cobb

Donald (Don) Allen Cobb, 77, passed away unexpectedly into the arms of Jesus on Friday, June 21, 2024. Don was a devoted husband, loving father, doting brother, faithful friend, gifted teacher and lifelong learner. He was a man of quiet strength who demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serve others as an expression of his love for the Lord. Don was born on January 7, 1947 in Evansville, IN to Hurshel and Majasca "Jackie" (Haner) Cobb. He was a graduate of North High School (1965) and attended Wheaton Bible College (1965-1968) where he focused on his Music Education degree and performance. He joined the US Air Force Band in 1969, and performed in good will tours throughout the continental United States. Upon returning home to Evansville, Don completed his Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration at the University of Southern Indiana. He retired after 39 years from the Vanderburgh County Assessor's Office as Deputy Assessor in 2018. Don loved anything pertaining to music - listening, performing, conducting and arranging. He performed on the saxophone with the Executive Inn Band, the Evansville Symphonic Band, the Hadi Shrine Circus Band and the Red Wick Band. He was an active, long-time member of Christian Fellowship Church (CFC), where he shared his love of the saxophone in solo performances as part of the worship team and as Conductor of the orchestra. He was a studious and passionate teacher who gave private saxophone and clarinet lessons for 32 years and was affectionately remembered by many students for his ability to inspire godly character during their growth as musicians. Don is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Fowler) Cobb; twin daughters, Tara Cobb and Sara Cobb; his sister Lana Lockhart (Dennis), niece Kristina Lockhart, and many other nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrin Lee Cobb. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Christian Fellowship Church, officiated by Pastor Dale Beaver, with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at Christian Fellowship Church and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.
