IN THE CARE OF
Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel
With heavy, but full hearts, we share that Charlotte Louise Deffendoll Young was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2024.
Charlotte was born on November 23, 1939 to Raymond and Dorothy Deffendoll in Evansville, IN. She married the love of her life, Robert J. Young in 1992.
She was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Vernon Senior High School. Charlotte was a hardworking woman and spent 39 years at DSM Engineering (formerly Fiberfill) spending years as a forklift driver, and loved her job and co-workers.
Charlotte loved her family dearly. Her home served as the hub for countless family gatherings, birthdays, biscuits and gravy breakfasts and holidays. Her heart was full when her house was full.
Charlotte was a Child of God, a devout follower of Jesus, and set a strong example for her family of love and grace. She enjoyed attending church at Cathedral of Praise. She loved working in her flower gardens, and they loved her right back.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Raymond Deffendoll and Dorothy Deffendoll; her husband, Robert J. Young; her twin brother, Charles (Bud) Deffendoll; and nephew, Matthew Raibley.
She is survived by her children, John (Ronanne) Morrow, and Loretta (David) Bryant; grandchildren, Brandon (Cadie) Morrow, Kyle (Ashley) Morrow, Shawn Schmidt, Chelsea (Nathan) Butler, Amanda (Sam) Hoehn, and Forrest (Emily) Gottman; great-grandchildren, Bella Hoehn, Lilly Morrow, Harlan Hoehn, Taylor Schmidt, Canaan Morrow, Mackenzie Schmidt, and Silas Gottman; siblings, Dorothy Kurtz, Rita Williamson, Judy Deffendoll, Jack (Butch) (Patty) Deffendoll, and Cathy (Larry) Colter.
Charlotte’s life was one of great impact. She embodied love and grace and extended both to everyone…always quick to forgive, lend a hand or make a meal.
While her family misses her dearly, we are overjoyed for her to join her Father in her Heavenly home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN officiated by Pastor Doug Horner of Lakeside New Beginnings, followed by burial at Park Lawn Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, March 27, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
