Betty graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1945. After graduation, she worked in various states, including Arkansas, Houston and Corpus Christi, Texas, before opening the Psychiatric Unit at Welborn Hospital in Evansville, where she retired as the Head Nurse.
Betty enjoyed tole painting at the Woodshed, swimming at the YMCA, dining out, and visiting with friends.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Peter Mulvey; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Eldridge; and, brother-in-law, Norman Price.
Betty is survived by her husband of 68 years, William Allen Hill; daughters, Linda H. Mulvey of Chicago, Vickie L. (Darrel) Shelton of Newburgh, and, Deborah A. (Jeffrey F.) Jackson of Evansville; son, Stephen A. Hill of Evansville; grandchildren, Patrick Mulvey, Shannon Mulvey, Ryan Shelton, Derek Shelton, Whitney Shelton Robey, Matthew Hill, and Luke Hill; great grandchildren; Blake Shelton, Mya, Ava, and Jax Shelton, and Madison, Hunter, and Easton Robey; sister, Patsy Price of Terre Haute; brother-in-law, Dr. Fred Eldridge of North Carolina; and, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Cypress Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Betty during her stay there.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Alexander North Chapel, with Rev. Mike Monahan officiating and burial following in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
