Beatrice (Schenk) Myers, 91, of Evansville, IN, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011, at home with VNA hospice care. Bea was born January 30, 1920 in Dogtown Tavern, in Evansville, which was owned by her parents.
She worked briefly for Whirlpool where she met her husband, Gene. They were married 70 years. Bea was an avid bowler for 57 years and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1989. She was a member of the 600 Club and bowled in many local, state and national tournaments. She worked in the nursery at Franklin Lanes for 12 years. She loved to make quilts and many of them have become family treasures. Bea was also a gray lady at Deaconess for a number of years.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, John and Irene Schenk; siblings, Juanita Paul, Imogene Eaton, and Joe Schenk.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; daughter, Bonnie Aramowicz (John); and a son, Kenneth Myers (Linda). Other survivors include grandchildren, Shari Thread (Shane), Traci Robinson, Stefani Miller (Steve), and Brian Myers. Great grandchildren include Brandon and Tyler Thread, Mark and Brad Miller, Izaac Robinson and Alexis Myers; also, many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, aides and staff at St. Anthony’s Hospice and VNA Plus for all their loving and compassionate care.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Hollis Marshall, with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday, 4-7 PM and Tuesday, 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
