Katheryne Rose Erhardt Raaum, of Escondido, California passed away July 8, 2018 in San Diego. She was born on January 13, 1925 in Mott, North Dakota to Frank Erhardt and Elizabeth Friedt Erhardt (German immigrants from Russia).
The fourth child of 13 children, Katheryne, better known as "Kate" by her family, was raised on the family Farm just outside of town in Mott North Dakota. When Kate was in her teens, the family moved into town, where they owned and ran the Wonder Hotel. After WWII she met and married Olger Olander Raaum in Minnesota.
Together, Kate and Olger traveled around the mid-west following job opportunities for Olger. They soon started a family, but moving often created challenges. Kate was a very strong woman and her family always came first. Kate sewed clothes for her children and often made clothes for her neighbors children. Neighbors helping neighbors is what helped them make ends meet during these tough years. Finally in the mid 50’s the family settled in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In the early years Kate was a stay at home house wife raising her 3 children. Later in her life she did assembly line work, building airline parts at Litton. Gardening was always a hobby she loved. She always had a beautiful yard no matter where she lived. The latter years of her life were spent in California with her daughter Barbara.
She leaves behind Son, James Raaum (Diane Raaum) Son, Bob Raaum, and Daughter Barbara Fox. Grand Children: Heather Raaum Thomas (Shane Thomas),Maressa Fox, Jessie Raaum O’Brien, and Donavan Raaum (Dayna Raaum). Great Grand Children: Zoey Thomas, Ike Thomas, Levi O’Brien, Payton Raaum, and Quinton Raaum. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
