I miss you so much David, words can't even describe, I still can't believe you're gone 😣💔.  I'll never forget about all the memories we made together throughout the years. I'll never forget how much cared for me. Thank you for treating me so well and thank you so much for caring about me so much David. I know I didn't really show it and I'm sorry about that but I loved and cared about you so much, you don't even know, I still do to this day and I always will, I promise🥺. I first met David through the Boys and Girls Club in Valley Center. He was helping be an assistant basketball coach. My daughter is very high energy and he was the only staff member that could keep up with her and always put a smile on her face. My daughter is unique and he always made her feel like she was special instead of odd. 
My daughter just saw his photo on my phone as I was looking at this page and I had to inform her that he had passed. He was such a kind and fun soul. She is heartbroken. He was a good man and he will be missed dearly by my family. 

When thinking of a memory of David, so many come up. Spending my summers at the Velasquez house were some of the best times growing up and those are summers I still talk about today.
 I will always cherish the wrestling matches, the swimming lessons, the rock climbing, and you saving me from your brothers. I wish as we grew up we still remained as close as we were when we were kids. I am so thankful that I was able to see you’re smiling face at my wedding and that you were able to help me celebrate that day. I will always love you my cousin. May you Rest In Peace until we see each other again.

David was like a brother to me. I had always  thought of him as another older brother. When i would go to my Nana's house david would be sleeping till like 3 pm and i would always try to wake him up i would call him sleeping beauty and he would hate that but at the end we were always laughing. I have so many memories with david like one time we finally convinced him to go the pool with us but it was cold for me so he snuck up in me and threw me in the pool.one day my nana told me David and me and sophia to wash the cars and David let me pull out the cars and i pushed on the gas to hard and we started laughing and he said, "geez if you dent the cars my mom gonna think it was me". Another memory was   when we would always stay up late and we would eat cake in his room and we would watch cartoons and then he would see that i made crumbs on his bed and he would pretend to be mad at me and we would always play fight.  All those memories will always stay in my heart. And when he would make little comments when we would try to cook and he would eat the food when were still making it. I will always remember that beautiful laugh and smile.   im gonna  miss you so much david and i love you.  And one day I'll see you again. -karina repin❤

To my dearest cousin,It hurts me knowing that you're no longer here and that I wouldn’t get to have just one more laugh with you. You were  like a brother figure to me. The one who always laughed, the one who always wanted to have fun, the one who always knew how to love. We had a ton  of good memories together, we have so many it's kinda hard to think of all of them. You took such good care of me and I thank you for that. You changed my diapers, you played games with me, you made me food once in a while. Man there was never a dull moment when I was with you. 
	I'm going to miss all our pillow fights, our boxing fights, our tickle games,  our time playing board games, our time rocking out to music in the car, and even all those times you beat me in tennis and at poll. And those times where we would stay up so late eating ice cream and watching cartoons. I'm going to miss those times where I would wake up and see you in the piano room playing games on the computer and you would look at me funny, and then I would look at you funny, and we would bust out laughing. I remember one time where I think I was 13 or 14 and we were washing Nana’s and Papa’s cars and David moved the car and he asked me if I knew how to drive, and I didn’t so he said get in the driver's seat lets get you started. I was backing up the car and I was coming close to the curb and he said Stop the car Sophia, and as I stopped the car we both kinda flew forward a little because when I pressed the brake I pressed it too hard. We started laughing so hard, He then said okay I think that's enough for today now get out before I get in trouble by nana and papa. After we got done washing the cars he told me to go to Nana and Papa to go tell them we were done and  go ask them for money and to  give me half of what I got. So many memories I will  cherish and adore.  I Love You!❤❤

I’m 26 now and knew David since I was 14. I met him through my best friend Phil. He also dated by sibling for about 3 years so we got to hang around each other a lot. I worked with him at the boys & the club for about a year too. David had a way of making people feel comfortable and being very helpful, always asking if you needed anything. This made me feel like I could be myself around him, we were always laughing and joking around. I have such fond memories of us hanging out in the neighborhood I grew up in. Over the past few days I’ve been remembering more memories little by little. I wish we could have another laugh together. David will be missed by so many people and he was very loved.  My heart is with all of his family and friends. 

I actually got to know David at the Boys and Girls Club, he was a staff there and I was a member. I knew he was related to several of my cousins which helped us connect a bit better because we knew the same people. David soon turned into that super cool older brother/cousin figure that would bug me like all the time! I’d be doing my homework and he’d say, “Go outside and get some air NeRd!!” He would always be telling me things like that and I would get so annoyed. I’d get to the club and I knew exactly where to find him to go bother him, if David wasn’t playing cards inside with the kids he’d be outside pegging them with dodge balls. When a kid would cry from being hit in the face by a ball (believe me it hurt!!) he would hug them, take them inside, grab ice, and give them a candy. Sometimes he’d go down to the bus stop to pick us middle schoolers up and on one of our walks to the club I asked him, “What has been your favorite moment or memory?” He said, “Right now.” I didn’t know what to say, it made so much sense, but I didn’t let him have it, being the sassy-David-bothering middle schooler I was, I said “OKAY whatever, I didn’t expect you to get all sentimental and Philosophical on me, gosh! You want flowers for that?!” He rolled his eyes and said, “Ugh no!” And he proceeded to give me the ‘you gotta live in the NOW’ speech. David was ALWAYS a classy young man with spunk in his ways. He cared about absolutely everyone (even if you annoyed him everyday) and he had the kindest smile! He helped with anything you needed and if you were feeling down he’d sit and listen, then he’d make you laugh. All the kiddos loved him and he no doubt lives in the hearts of many. Thank you for all the life lessons I didn’t know were lessons and for teaching me that grades weren’t always the most important things in life <3

I met David sometime in September 2008. My sister Mia and our friend Phil talked about how cool this guy was and I was stoked to meet him. The three of them were waiting at my bus stop for me to get home from school and right when I saw him I got the chills and a voice in my head said “this person is going to be very important to me.” November 14th, 2008 he asked me to go steady with him. For three years we fell in love and we went through a lot. I think about him and dream about him all the time. He was so funny, charming, smiley, expressive, honest, and unapologetic. He was caring and so devoted to everyone in his life. I always hoped we could reconnect and my heart breaks for everyone else suffering from his loss. 

David was the best uncle, and he still is.  I can still remember the one night were we stayed up for the second season of our favorite show. We stayed up all night, snaking on junk food. I would never think that 3 years later he would be well, dead. He is the only person who has died that I hanged out with. I can’t explain how this made me feel, its just odd, he was very young and i’m always used to old people and animals dying. But young people dying is just different its like a baby or a child dying. David was my favorite uncle and I don't think we will be the same after such a terrible event, I love you David.

        My first memory was meeting a young stylish rockabilly teenager he was probably thirteen years old. David was funny, sarcastic, witty always a good time. Ten years ago he became an uncle to my son Micah. He was SO helpful and considerate often accompanying me to run errands when Micah was a baby. After all these years he felt like my little brother. I have been blessed to have a loving attentive cool uncle for Micah. 
My last memory of David was a couple months ago; he and Chuy were picking up Micah to take him to Valley Center. This time my second baby just months old was there, as we were all walking out to go our separate ways David offered to carry baby gear out to my car. That was David always chivalrous and loving. My heart is broken, we will miss him immensely. 

I am lost for words but please know that you are in my heart and prayers. It's so surreal. I don't know what to say. I wish I would of known David as a grown man. My last memory of him was him running around in diapers. I used to ride along side him when you would pick me up on Sunday for church in your big white suburban. I miss you guys.
