BAUMGARTNER, Donald Mark, 52, of New Orleans, LA formerly of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Donald is survived by his parents David and Marilyn (nee Gaunce) Baumgartner, two sisters and brothers-in-law Ann and Timothy Schnapp, Susan and Robert Haas, one brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Darlene Baumgartner; nephews Paul Schnapp, Ethan and Mason Baumgartner, Adam Haas; nieces Leah Shultz, Bethany Schnapp, Grace Baumgartner. Donald was a 1977 graduate of Meadowdale High School, he received his B.S in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Michigan, he earned a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard, worked as a Naval Architect in several shipyards in the New Orleans area and he recently worked as a Marine Engineer for the Military Sealift Command. There will be a gathering of family and friends at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2011 at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5301 Free Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45426, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM with The Reverend Benjamin Spear-Hardy II presiding. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity in memory of Donald. Arrangements entrusted to TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL, 675 West Wenger Road.
