She was born on July 13, 1923 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to the late Otto and Mary (Ambrose) Beck. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael P., as well as her four sisters: Dorothy of PA, Catherine of FL, Beatrice of PA, and Helen of NJ.
Bernadine attended Fountain Hill High School and was a loving and devoted mother to her daughters. She and Michael happily moved to Englewood, FL., in 1984. Upon setting up residence in the ‘sunshine state’, Bernadine’s love for the warmer weather was evident. She enthusiastically embraced all the activities the beauty of her surroundings encouraged: bicycling, walking, swimming, line-dancing, playing cards, shooting billiards, and volunteering in the Foxwood community where she lived. She was also actively involved as a volunteer at St. Raphael’s church in Englewood, assisting with the administrative duties of the church and running the yearly rummage sales.
Bernadine is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia A. Toth and her husband, John, of Lakewood Ranch, FL and Mer Ursula Zovko and her husband Paul Chebator, who currently live between Englewood FL & Stowe, VT. She was also the loving grandmother to two grandchildren, Michael and his wife Heather of Climax, North Carolina and Pamela and her husband Brandon of Williamsburg, VA., as well as her three great-grandchildren, Colton, Brenley, and Delaney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church in Englewood, Florida on Friday, March 18 at 10 AM. Her ashes will be buried in the memorial garden of the Church.
