I was surprised to find that Rich had passed away.  Rich was sometimes my baby sitter long ago, and a constant source of amazing goings-on.  I got to see him painting a noble Indian chief and create a diorama of the Monitor and the Merrimack.  When my family had a vacation to Yellowstone, I collected several jars of water for the hot springs and geysers so we could test for radioactivity.  There was always something interesting going on next door.
