Robert R. Holmes age 102, passed away on September 28, 2018 at his home is Bradenton, Florida. He was born in Jonesville, Virginia on April 29, 1916 to Daniel and Anna Holmes. He joined the US Army in 1944 and was in the Battle of the Bulge.
Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie I (Bryan) Holmes; son, Brian William Holmes and two grandsons, Edmond L Woodward Jr and Robert E Holmes.
Robert is survived by his children, Carol Ann Woodward (Edmond), Marie Eileen Schneider (Ronald) and Robert Raymond Holmes Jr (Irene); 9 grandchildren, James Schneider, Denise Schneider, Raymond Schneider (Shannon), Susan Schneider Tobin (Tim) and Doug Schneider, Steven Woodward (Glaucia), Theresa Lawton (Chris), Michael Woodward (Angie) and Renee Holmes Schreiner (Eric) and 23 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 10:00-11:00am at Manatee United Methodist Church in Bradenton, Florida. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am. Robert will be laid to rest next to his wife at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton, Florida.
