James Arthur Hill, 97, of Parrish Florida passed away peacefully on May 7, 2022 in the presence of his son James Hill Jr. James Hill Sr. was born and raised in Philadelphia. He lived in Philadelphia for the first half of his life. He later moved to Cape May NJ, and then to Parrish, Florida. He spent more than 20 years with his loving partner Jean McAndrews as they traveled between Cape May and Parrish, and also to different parts of the country.
James served in the military as a Marine in WWII. He was a hard worker and proudly employed by ARCO (British Petroleum) for more than forty years as an instrument mechanic. He enjoyed giving back to the community and was a girl’s softball coach for several years in Cape May. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church, The Church of the Advent, in Cape May. He was a good neighbor to many and a giving individual. In his younger years, when physically able, he would lend a helping hand to those in times of need. He had a passion for round dancing and enjoyed cross stitching. He also enjoyed construction and his greatest construction was the house he built for his parents. He was known for having a sweet tooth and always had candy readily available to share, particularly with his children and grandchildren.
He was a loving father and grandfather. Preceding him in death are his parents James Dougherty Hill and Evelyn Tams Hill, and both his siblings Evelyn Hill Braun and Edwin Hill. He is survived by his four children Lora Lynn Trucksess, Diana Dee Hill, James Arthur Hill Jr, and Pamela Lee Forte. He is survived by his 14 grandchildren Lori Maxwell, Jeffrey Maxwell, Amanda Huaca, Drew Trucksess, Spencer Trucksess, Stuart Trucksess, Wayne Trucksess, Jennifer Eisenstein, Stephanie Eisenstein, Vanessa Hill, LeEtte Forte, Brigette Forte, Ron Forte, and Autumn Forte. He is also survived by several great and great great grandchildren.
His remains will be placed in the columbarium at The Church of the Advent, Cape May, New Jersey along with Jean’s remains. There will be a memorial service at the Church for family members, to be announced at a later date.
