The family will be receiving friends at The River House in Palmetto at 12 noon on Saturday August 27, 2022 in lieu of the graveside.
Deborah Lee Lake, 75, of Palmetto, Florida, danced her way up to Heaven on August 7, 2022.
Deborah was born January 21, 1947, in Bradenton, Florida to Sam Scott and Margaret King Gurtner. Debby grew up in Palmetto, Florida and her childhood included large family gatherings and many meaningful family memories at Perico Island. One of her greatest role models growing up was her ballet instructor, Miss Betty Bayshore, who inspired her lifelong love of dance. She was a beautiful ballerina and her wit was as quick as her feet. Debby moved to Sebring, Florida in high school where she graduated from Sebring High in 1965. Shortly after, she moved back to Palmetto, where she started her own family.
She valued family deeply and poured her heart into them with love and lots of laughter. Debby enjoyed working as a legal secretary for many years and later owned local quilt and antique shops. Anyone who knew her, knew of her love for antiquing, collectibles, cooking and spending time in Montana with her
daughters and grandchildren.
Debby will be remembered as an unconditionally loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Lake, who she was lovingly married to for 35 years. Additionally survived by her father, Sam Scott, stepmother Bonnie Scott; siblings Hope Scott Floyd, Tim Scott, Brad Scott and Debbie Pierson. She also leaves behind daughters Keley Boyas Rouse, Marci Boyas Shaffer
(Dwight), Julie Lake Brown and son, David Lake (Suellen) along with seven grandchildren, Ryan, Madison, Abigail, Emma, Christopher, Shelby and Payton and numerous nieces and nephews. Debby was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Gurtner, and brother, Sammy Scott.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation in her name to the Craig Foundation, which supports Craig Hospital, a spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation hospital in Denver, Colorado.
