Most people know our dad by the name Lynn Weller. He was born in Moses Lake, WA on the air force base on January 10, 1958 and passed away October 13, 2011. He was doing what he loved most in this world, flying his glider. He grew up with a big family who traveled the world. They lived all over the United States and in the Philippines Dad spent his high school years in Charleston, SC where he developed his love of running. His favorite track event was high hurtles. Our dad continued to run several 5k's every year throughout his lifetime. He was fast and even placed in some of the races. Our dad graduated high school and relocated to Washington where he attended Wenatchee Valley College to obtain his degree as a Medical Lab Technologist. Here, our dad, started a family and is survived by his three children Grant, Nicole, and Jessica Weller. He has three grandchildren, Dakota, Calista, and Lucien. His brothers and sisters include; Ed, Shawn, Theresa, Gail, and Pat.
Over the years dad enjoyed carpentry and owned his own business called Weller Built; although, his true passion was flight. He obtained his pilots license in the early 1990's and went on to achieve his commercial license as well as his instructor certification. Later dad began to work at Boeing and became involved with the Evergreen Soaring Club. His love for gliders developed compelling him to open his second business called Northwest Eagle Soaring where he gave rides in his DG-1000 glider and taught several people how to "soar". He spent every weekend at the Arlington Airport doing what he loved most.
In lieu of flowers we would like to erect a monument at the Arlington Airport. Donations are being accepted at Bank of America for the Memorial Tribute Fund for William Lynn Weller and Northwest Eagle Soaring. Please use his full name and acct # 138100166088. Any additional funds donated will go towards a flight scholarship that is yet to be determined and towards a 529-B account for Lynn's grandchildren.
