John “Philip” Woerner, 94, of Forest Hill, MD., passed away on November 16, 2024.
Phil was born on May 6, 1930, in Baltimore to the late Florence and Wilbur C. Woerner Sr. He was the eighth child of ten, having five brothers, Wilbur Jr., Earl, Richard, James “David” and Willam “Preston,” and four sisters, Dorothy, Florence, Lorraine “Raine” and Alice. His loving wife of sixty years, Olga Marie Woerner (nee Baltzell), passed away in 2012.
He is survived by his son, Eric Nelson Woerner, his granddaughter, Allyson Woerner, and brother, Preston Woerner.
Phil graduated from Catonsville High School in 1951 and The University of Baltimore in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration specializing in Production. He worked as an engineer at the Westinghouse Defense Center in Baltimore for 46 years. After retiring, he worked with his wife Olga at Brice Run Nursery in Randallstown, MD., and Edrich Farms Nursery in Granite, Maryland. He then worked well into his eighties as a self-employed handyman. Phil enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and spending time with family and friends, including playing a good game of Pinochle, as raucous as they may have been.
Visitation will be from 12-1:30PM with a service beginning at 1:30PM, located at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. Interment will follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
