John I. Sacks

John I. Sacks, a native Washingtonian passed away on October 26, 2014; Beloved husband of 31 years to Antoinette “Toni” Sacks; Loving father of Denise (Charles) Poss, Thomas (Nancy) Sacks, Cheryl (William) Randow, Debbie (James) Meetre, Barry Sacks, Steven Sacks, Scott (Annette) Sacks, and Paul (Lauren) Sacks and step-father of Antoinette (Peter) Davidov, Christine (John) Arundel and John (Jane) Dempsey; Dear brother of Irene Danker; Cherished grandfather of 29 and great-grandfather of 18. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Max and Sara Sacks, his former wife, Rosaleen Sacks, his daughter, Frances Sacks, and by his sisters, Freda Friedlander and Genevieve Renner.

He was born on November 22, 1928; He attended Central High School, class of 1948 and attended University of Miami; He was a wholesale food distributor to the military commissaries; Active in the Police Boys Club- playing all sports; Golden Gloves Champion; Loved the horses; Member of the Columbia Country Club, Chevy Chase, MD; Many happy hours were spent aboard the “My Girl Too” with family and friends fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc. 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD (Exit 6 South off Route 100) on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 6-8pm, where a funeral service will be held in the Gary L. Kaufman Vermillion Chapel on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11:30am. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park.

Shiva will be held at 6pm Wednesday at the home of Marlene and Steven Gordon.
