Sincere condolences to Mrs. Badger and the entire family from Gagan, Leena and the Vohra family.  Dion was a sincere, soft spoken and a very intelligent man who was always willing to offer advice.  He will be greatly missed.

My heart broke when I heard about the loss of your dad.    While I didn't know him, I do know you, and the deep love and commitment you have for your family must be a beautiful reflection of the values, love, and commitment he instilled in you.   He must have been truly remarkable!

Please know that I am here for you, and my thoughts and prayers are with you, April, the kids, and the rest of the family!

Favorite memories: I remember the Red toy cars he and his brother put together for me and my twin sister and without running into each other, we became expert drivers at the age of three. As we matured into adulthood, he became a big brother to us both on differed levels. Dion would pick me up from college to food shop or just kick it for the weekend. He took time to share the important things in life always doing your best, push when it’s hard and Never Give Up! And lots of  LOVE! Yes, “Those Badger’s”. Even long distance, Dion always checked in with me and my family. Visiting in VA became the norm… those were and always will be the best! So much love, laughter.. investing in each other … one needed to really Listen for lessons Dion shared of navigating through Life to be successful. He had wisdom beyond  measure. The walks with Dion, private conversations, the meals always prepared by ‘Liz’s Open Kitchen’ no matter what time you showed up on their door step, or just engaging without words …watching his favorite shows discussing good books (The Art of War, by Sun Tzu)  his favorite…or sharing the professional pictures taken with his camera over the years. A most recent memory for the History books, not only of him being an Icon, but on his birthday in February of 2022, we all had the best of times we laughed until our sides ached..(just ask the family about the Bike). Dion loved his family, life and loved Hard!  Spending time with Dion was priceless.. he was full of jokes.. you just had to listen…even through the illness… if you were blessed to spend any time with Dr. Calvin Dion Badger, you would have gleaned from his still thought provoking  conversations, encouragement, and wisdom!  Dion will always be remembered as my big older brother.

To my beloved cousin Dion, in my youthful eyes growing up, you were  "THE" outstanding male in the family. The first black man I had ever looked up to. You were kind, loving, incredibly intelligent, undeniably educated and gifted as a freelance photographer and a remarkable lawyer. My fondest memories of us were when you and Liz would visit me and Leo in our apartment over the Boys and Girls Club in Queens. We had great conversations on the roof!! I almost bought your house in PA (smile). I remember our lunch dates when I worked at the Board of Education, enjoying Greek salads together. I will always remember your hugs and kisses you gave me at my wedding at Russo's On The Bay!! Now you can hang out and watch football together with MY LEO! PS Tell him I love him and miss him!!!!!!

I will not forget the wonderful times we spent together either at your and Bernice's home for many years; or at my home with  Don and my home in Florida.  

The bonds we shared will live on: I know that you join Don now and you both will be reminiscing and laughing together.

It’s unfortunate that we all too often don’t appreciate life on the journey and as it happens in our day to day processes, but I am ever so grateful to God for blessing our family with Cousin Dion — someone who represents a most precious and idyllic era in my life; forever intimately and intricately woven into the fabric of entire family, childhood, and identity. 

The times when we were privileged to spend time with Cousin Dion & Cousin Jarrod growing up were tantamount to summer vacations to Disney Land — always an occasion to remember, a treat to be treasured, and a memory to be cherished and I’m thankful to have these etched into my mind and imprinted on my heart. 

Of course the best gift Cousin Dion could ever give has always been my Cousin Jarrod — whom I love, look up to, and value as a friend as much as a family member — and Dion’s shrewd discernment for excellence was further evidenced  upon making Liz and her daughters a part of our family. 

Praying that God grant the peace that passes all understanding during this impossible time and sending all the love in my heart.

My name is jenea Winston and Dion niece! My favorite memories of my uncle was when I attended LaGuardia college and he was one of the Best Lawyers in the building . I use to just stop by everyday after class just to see him and spend time with him but most of all He always gave me great advice. I going to miss you uncle Dion you will forever be in my heart . Now your joined with everyone I love in heaven .
