Born July 29, 1949, in Grand Rapids, to Carl and June (Burch) Jarosch, Tom was the eldest of five children. He attended West Catholic High School and was an accomplished athlete who excelled in many different sports. Tom was part of the Junior Achievement program and learned skills for business and success that would take him through life.
In 1983, Tom married Amy Hanson and they settled in Elk Rapids. Children would not be in the cards for them, but Tom and Amy gave their love to many pets over the years. Occupationally, Tom tried a little of everything. He would do things simply because someone told him he couldn’t. He was a bartender, landscaper and gifted salesman, all before he landed on his true love of mosaic stone work. Tom used his experience in business to helpfully advise others and offer guidance proving that, in spite of his competitive nature, he wanted to see everyone succeed. That competitive nature led him to be a legendary ladder ball player and shrewd in the ways of euchre, cribbage and horseshoes.
Tom is survived by his siblings, Jeri Ann (Will) VanderEnde, Charles (Mary Jo), Theresa Martin, James (Tamie), his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle Robert and Ginny Jarosch and his brother-in-law, Bob Martin.
A celebration of life will be held when large gatherings are again considered to be safe.
Donations may be made in Tom’s memory to the Father Fred Foundation.
Arrangements are entrusted to Covell Funeral Home, Elk Rapids.
