Russ was born March 28, 1935 in Central Lake to Raymond and Hazel (Arnold) Lamoreaux. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1953 and went on to work for Super Tool from which he retired after 38 years. He married Lois Ann Wagner on October 2, 1954 in East Jordan.
Together they developed Elk Rapids Heights which had its opening in 1965. One of his greatest accomplishments was building the family home where they have resided since 1966. Several years later Russ and Lois started R and L Crafts. Together they worked for 27 years, just recently closing the business.
Russ was a former member of the U.A.W. and the Elk Rapids Sportsman Club. He was a member of Kewadin United Methodist Church. In his spare time, Russ enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest enjoyment was the many family vacations throughout the United States and Canada.
Russ will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Lois; Children: Ronda (Edward) Michael of Traverse City and Wayne (Robin) Lamoreaux of Rosemount, MN; daughter-in-law: Beth (Ronald) Klimp of Cadillac; 5 grandchildren: James, Aaron, Stephanie(Tony), Jason, and Colin; 4 great grandchildren: Paige, Gwendolyn, Grant, and Carter; Siblings: Richard (Rita), Janet Johnson, John (Lynn), Marland (Carol), Linda (Gary) McDaniel, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Russ was preceded in death by a son Mark Lamoreaux and a daughter Tonia Lamoreaux.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 6- 8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. A celebration of life service will take place Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Kewadin United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Russ’s name may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Kewadin United Methodist Church, or a charity of donor’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Elk Rapids.
