He was a native of St. Louis, Missouri, and retired from General Motors Corvette Plant after 30 years. Thomas was a music enthusiast, loved the oldies songs and was very detail oriented. He was raised Catholic, where he served as an altar boy. He was a wonderful provider for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and June Smith; and a brother, Lloyd Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years and three months, Vida Smith of Mount Sherman; three children, Ray T. Smith of St. Louis, Teresa (Kevin) Sackman of Christiansburg, Virginia, and Pamela (Tom) Pedigo of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren, Frank Domijan (Matt Trabue) of St. Louis, Andrew Smith (Laura) of Morgantown, Jennifer Domijan of St. Louis, Alyssa Sackman of Christiansburg, Jonathan Sturdivant (Sara) of Elizabethtown and Kevin Sackman II (Kaylee) of St. Louis; and five great-grandchildren, Alex, Matthew, Mason, Liam and Evelyn Hope.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown with Father Pham Loi officiating. Burial follows in St. James Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
