Steve dedicated his life to caring for his family. He was a member of Central Kentucky Rods and Machines. He attended the Hardin County Leadership Course in 2016 and his greatest joy was being Santa Claus for the Swope Family of Dealership Christmas parties for 11 years.
He served in the Army for 12 years as an aircraft mechanic, worked 13 years at Ambrake Corporation on the assembly line and was Vice President and Manager for the Swop Family of Dealership at Auto Detailing and More for 13 years. He graduated from Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville, NC, got his law Enforcement and Business degree at Fort Campbell. He was an Eagle Scout, a Kentucky Colonel, and a Scout master for Troop 294 Radcliff & Troop 801 Fort Knox, sat on the Eagle Scout Board at ETCC and Board of Directors for United Way Campaign.
He is preceded in death by parents, James Grady Phillips and Margaret Beatrice Taylor of Fayetteville, NC and a sister,, Virginia Phillips Foley of Fayetteville, NC.
He leaves a wife, Sandra Kay Meador Phillips and four children, George Allen Phillips of Elizabethtown, Steve Michael Phillips and Laurie Jo Phillips Moore of Marysville, WA, and a step son Travis Lee Hayes of Bowling Green; two sisters, Judy Ann Williams (Larry) of Hickory, NC and Donna Perkins (Gary) of Carrollton, VA and a nephew, Jimmy Foley of Fayetteville, NC.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain Ernie Bagley officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
No flowers please. Donations may be made to the Christmas for Kids this year through the funeral home for the Central Kentucky Rods and Machines.
