He was born in Dante, Virginia to the late Thomas and Maria Boch Blackstone. He retired from Gates Rubber Company after 35 years of employment. Lawrence was a devoted Christian, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend to all. Family was very important to him and he valued his church family over the years. In his spare time, Lawrence enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Randolph Blackstone; one sister, Sonja Hoke; one nephew, Jesse Blackstone; and his dog, Pepper.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Glenda Dixon Blackstone; his children; Tracy (James) Adams and April (William) Lambert; two brothers, Gregory (Delana) Blackstone and Stanley (Paulette) Blackstone; one sister, Carol Blackstone; six grandchildren, Jensen (Lincoln) Parrett, Josie Adams, Giselle Adams, Adriana Lambert, Sebastian Adams, and Allison Lambert; one great-granddaughter, Scarlett Parrett; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and continues after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
