Brenda Bland

Brenda Sue Bland, 76, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on October 12, 2024. She was born in Louisville, KY, on August 16, 1948, to the late Charles Crawford and Catherine Lewis Crawford. She was a member of First Christian Church and retired from Morningside Elementary as an instructional assistant. Brenda had a lighthearted personality. She loved K-Pop music, much to her family's chagrin, and loved technology, whether she could figure it out or not, but most importantly she loved her grandkids with all of her heart. She will be so greatly missed. She was preceded in passing by her loving husband of over 50 years, Jerry Wayne Bland; two infant children, Walter and Jodi Bland; sister, Cathy Lane Klinglesmith; niece, Stacey Lane Ryan; brother in laws, Richard Bogard, Milton Virgil "Jack" Bland, and James Robert "Jim Bob" Bland; sister in law, Betsy Morris. Brenda is survived by her daughter, Jerrie Lynn Kiper (Eric); siblings, Gloria Bryan and Kenny Crawford (Donna); grandchildren, Jackson, Katie, and Andrew; great-grandchild, Luna; brother in laws, David Bland (Barbara), Bill Bland (Wanda); sister in laws, Martha Bogard, Barbara Routt (Robert); Judy Minton (Calvin); and a host of loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Brenda's life will take place on Sunday, October 20, at 2 PM, at Brown Funeral Home. Guests are invited to attend visitation on Sunday from 11 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Brenda's honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a local schools backpack drive.
