They loved spending all their free time with their grandchildren, spending most of their weekends at baseball games, cheer competitions, volleyball games, or taking their youngest grandson on lawnmower rides. Billy and Kathy loved taking trips on their motorcycle, they were always up for an adventure. They served their community and were well recognized within their community.
Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran and served 24 years with the Elizabethtown Police Department where he retired in 2013. He worked primarily on the Greater Hardin County Task Force. Billy served with distinction, determination, and dedication. He was currently working for the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office as a School Resource Officer.
Kathy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and friend. She never met a stranger and always had a positive outlook. Kathy would always greet you with a smiling face and her laugh was contagious. If you spent time with her, a laughable memory was going to be made.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Boyce and Sarah Walker Edwards; his sons, Chad and Caleb Edwards; and his brothers, Homer Edwards and Terry Lee Edwards.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Cindy Huff.
Billy and Kathy are survived by their kids, Spencer Edwards, Tyler (Haley) Thompson, and Robbie Thompson; their grandchildren, Brylee, Easton, and Carson; Billy’s siblings, Carlos (Rita) Edwards, Della (Dan) Broady, Katie (Gary) White, Wayne (Beverly) Edwards, Betty Parrish, and Jimmy Dale “J.D.” (Sheri) Edwards; Kathy’s siblings, Sue (Jack) Roberts, David (Jenny) Huff, and Harry (Charlotte) Cecil; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. and continues after 9 A.M. Tuesday at Grace Heartland Church.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at Grace Heartland Church. Burial follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
In lieu of flowers for Billy, the family requests donations be made to Hardin County Schools Family Resource Center. Checks can be made out to HCS-FRYSC.
