Trinidad Barreras Jr. passed away at his home on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the age of 72. Mr. Barreras is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, two children: David Barreras and Lisa Barreras-Mendoza, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Trinidad is a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the South China Sea and in Air Force forward operations in Thailand. For his distinguished service, he was awarded several medals and commendations. Mr. Barreras was a life-long resident of the Anthony, Texas. He served four terms as a City Councilman in Anthony, and was past-president of the local chapter of the Jaycees and past commander of VFW Post 4384. Mr. Barreras was an active member of his community, volunteering his time to the Anthony Housing Authority Board, and coaching youth softball. He was a long time educator and administrator at Gadsden ISD and Ysleta ISD. Upon his retirement, Trini pursued culinary mastery of the outdoor grill, and cheered for his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Thursday June 25, 2015 from 5-9pm with the Rosary at 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home West Chapel. Graveside service will be held Friday June 26, 2015 at 10.30am at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. Ft. Bliss, TX. 79906.
