Theresa Dávila Apodaca was born at her parents’ farm in Socorro, Texas on November 7, 1934 and passed away on January 16, 2013. She was extremely intelligent, compassionate, and beautiful, and she taught everyone she encountered what it truly means to love one another.
She was a generous person who never complained about any pain or sorrow or hardship she may have experienced. She was remarkably strong and rarely shed any tears that anyone could see. She was a pillar of faith and devotion and was there for anyone who needed help. Although she was a serious person, she had a wonderful sense of humor.
Theresa taught many students, nurtured many children, and shared her love with the whole world. She will be missed tremendously by her loving husband of 54 years, Jacob G. Apodaca; her sons Daniel (wife Julia), David, Rene (wife Luz); grandson Jacob Rene; sister Emilia Gutiérrez; and brother Aureliano Dávila, as well as many friends and family members who also loved her very much. The family wishes to thank CIMA Hospice for the outstanding care it provided.
A bright light has faded from this earth and now shines brightly in the heavens. We will forever miss you!
Mi Madre, Mi Vida
You drove my father crazy with happiness by giving him my birth.
I opened my eyes and I knew love, I knew the truth.
Today, when I remember where I am, I am because of you.
You were my first teacher. You taught me how to live.
You also taught me how to die. To die is easy, you said.
There is no pain. You gasp and it is done.
You open your eyes, and life is new, fresh, everlasting.
Late at night when I close my eyes, I think of you,
cool rain that sets my spirit free.
When I see flowers bloom, I know that they are you.
And when I yawn last before death, I will see light, I will see you.
The Rosary will be Friday, February 8, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church located at 519 Latta St., El Paso, Texas.
