Susie was born in Mitchell County, Texas to Van Moses and Mable Watkins, and lived in West Texas all of her life. She married Joe Dering in 1955 and had four beautiful children. She re-married in 1970 to Kenneth Moses. After having a baby girl, she moved with her husband and family to El Paso in 1972. She enjoyed taking courses at El Paso Community College and at UTEP. For many years, she volunteered at the El Paso County Sherriff's Department, and she spent some time volunteering at Texas Parks and Wildlife. She also worked as a Manager at Subway in Santa Teresa for many years. After retiring in 2014, Susie spent time playing Farmville with her friends, watching birds in her courtyard and working the land she loved so much. She could often be seen irrigating the land wearing a big floppy hat, jeans and tall rubber boots.
Susie is predeceased by two of her children: Jeanie Threlkeld and Johnny Dering. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Kenneth Moses; her daughters Terri Maggard and Paula Hoang; her son Tony Dering; nine grand children and many great grand children.
The family is grateful for the condolences and the kindness. In lieu of flowers, they request a small donation be made to the American Heart Association in Susie's memory.
Arrangements under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home-West, El Paso, TX.
