He graduated from McKinley Tech in Washington DC in 1967, excelling in basketball, which brought him to Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, CO. There in his second year he earned the title of National Junior College Scoring Champion for that year. This brought the attention of Don Haskins who recruited Stanley to UTEP. The recruitment did not fit Stanley, but El Paso did. He married and became a father to his only son Edward. He played professional basketball in Chihuahua, Mexico teams whose fans joyfully called him, Memin, after the famous and beloved Afro-Mexican comic book character. In 1975, David L Carrasco chose Stanley to coach in the newly created Jobs Corps Center in El Paso. The mission of the Jobs Corps to educate and train young people for successful careers fit well with Stanley. This allowed him to bond himself with the community through his 40 plus years of service, and it encouraged him to graduate from UTEP with a Bachelor Degree in Management, while advancing him to Physical Education Director. He loved the El Paso the community he served and the El Paso community loved him back. El Paso Strong!
In passing, Stanley Milton joins his father, Walter, his mother Adabell Milton and his sister Brenda Milton.
