On December 19th, Shelby Shaye Bustamante, was taken from us. She was a devoted Catholic who’s spirituality and love for others was unworldly. Shelby will always be remembered by all of those around her for her artistic nature. Though she was a fantastic painter, poet and writer, her artistic nature describes the way she lived life. Every day was an empty canvas to Shelby and she painted each day with love and whatever else she saw fit. Shelby did not only love music, it was as though music was made so that Shelby could discover it. She lived out her last days doing what she loved, pure enjoyment of artists performing. To say she lived life to the fullest would be an understatement when describing Shelby. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers Gustavo Bustamante (The Grand Poo Ba) and Manny Leos. She is survived by her father Patrick, mother Monnette Arvizu, brothers Derek and Justinian, her grandmothers Leonor and Annette, Godparents Arthur and Luz Haide, two great grandmothers and countless other family members and friends. She will forever be our “Free Bird”. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home – West with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Cathedral. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
