Our beautiful mother Selma Esper Aboud has died at age 94 in El Paso, Texas on August 24, 2014 at 9 p.m. after a long and blessed life, surrounded by her children. She is survived by her three children: son Rijdy Aboud and daughter-in-law Patricia Aboud, daughter Rajette, son Rumzy Aboud, and her granddaughter Larae Malooly. She is predeceased by husband Kayser Aboud since 1987 and brothers Michel, Salim, Albert, and Louie Esper. Having met when Selma was visiting family in El Paso from Pennsylvania, Kayser and Selma were among the founding members of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in the 1940s when it opened its doors in a tiny store-front on North El Paso Street. They owned and operated Kayser Furniture Co. in downtown El Paso for 45 years. Selma raised her children with such glee and passion recognized by all. She was an active member of the Syrian Lebanese Ladies Society of El Paso. She spearheaded the kitchen at many church dinners, the chief rice pilaf and baklawa dessert maker. She never failed writing her yearly Christmas cards and supported Kayser in all business matters. She was above all the best wife and mother one could have. We celebrate her laugh, ceaseless warmth, and independent spirit. Her strong will to live and stay with us never waivered until she became tired and wanted to be with "Her Jesus" and Family in Heaven. Her piercing brown eyes and smiling face will never be forgotten. Her life's mantra expressed each day of her life was: "Love Each Other." We love you Mom and Sittoo. You are in a place of health, life, and wonder now. Special thanks to Dr. Muneer Assi, Maria Velasquez, and Rumzy—loving caretaker for her last 12 years. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 120 N. Festival Drive at 10:00am with Father George Al-Dehneh officiating. She will thereafter be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4848 Alps Drive off Dyer Street. www.MartinFuneralHomeWest.com
