It is with great sadness to announce the death of Rosario “Chayo” Dawson of El Paso, TX who passed away on June 28, 2022. She was born in Mineral de Morelos, Chihuahua, Mexico on September 14, 1934 to Jose and Elvira Nunez.
Chayo married Louis Dawson in 1964 and spent many years on the family farm in La Mesa, NM. Together, they enjoyed hosting parties, fishing and hunting in Quemado, NM with friends. She loved to sew and try her luck at the casino whenever she had the chance.
Chayo is preceded in death by her parents, former husband Louis and siblings Jose, Josefina, Julia, Isaura and Blanca.
She is survived by her daughter Silvia Haugen, her grandchildren whom she loved to spoil and cook for, Ron Haugen (Roxann) and Jaqui Anderson (Lem); great grandchildren that she adored, Aria, Ethan and Cameron.
The family would like to thank Dr. Saluja and the staff at Elara Caring Hospice. In addition, the family is especially grateful to her friends Ed and Elvira along with her nieces and nephews who spent countless hours by her side helping to care for her.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 23 at 11:00 A.M. at Martin Funeral Home, 128 Resler Drive.
