Michael, a devoted son and brother was born on September 7th, 1953, to Robert and Marta Turner in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Austin High School in 1972, where he was a member of the varsity tennis team. He was also the President and proud trumpet player of the Austin High School Panther Band. Later he attended Missouri Western State University, College of Santa Fe, and The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Michael worked at the Ft. Bliss Commissary for many years as the beloved “produce guy”, receiving many letters of recommendation for his excellent service.
Although he battled mental illness most of his life, Michael was the kind of man that would give you the jacket off his back and whatever cash he had in his wallet. Michael spent many years caring for his parents, and working hard at the commissary. He loved music, food, Star Trek, the Cowboys, and laughter. He was a very active man, and loved playing basketball, tennis, and running. Most of all, he loved playing his trumpet. He will be deeply missed by his sisters and all who knew him.
A celebration of life for Robert will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with memorial service set to begin at 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central, 3839 Montana Ave., El Paso, TX. 79903.
If you plan on attending the services the family is asking that you please wear a mask for the safety and respect of others.
Michael is survived by his sisters: Sonia Manago, Yvonne Turner-Johnson, and Roberta Heim.
