On October 26,2022 Rita Margaret McKinney peacefully passed away at her home to be with our Dear Lord and Savior. Rita was born on September 3,1928 in Asheville, North Carolina to Joseph John and Hazel Gorman. Soon after, the family moved to El Paso. She attended Loretto Academy and El Paso High School. Upon graduation, Rita went to work for Southwestern Bell. While working, she met the love of her life, Daniel Byron McKinney. They were soon wed at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in El Paso. Rita and Dan were devoted parents to their four children: Daniel McKinney, Janice Quijano (Tino), Kathleen Gibson (Russell), and David McKinney (Nancy); and have fourteen grandchildren; Scott, Stacey, Ryan, Daniel Quijano (Alyssa), Elizabeth Triggs (Todd), Sean McKinney, Cody McKinney (Beth), David Quijano (Joseph), Jake McKinney (Jodi), Marissa Quijano, Laura Gibson, Carly Quijano, Sarah McKinney and Erin McKinney. Rita also leaves behind ten great grandchildren; Dobbs, Alice, Kylee, Ryan, Maya, Lincoln, Felicity, Sawyer, Kaden, and soon to arrive Noah, as well as her nephews Paul and Mark (Kristin) Gorman. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and love for Rita’s caregivers and friends-Olivia Justo, Mariana Ceniceros, and Marcos Fraire whom she cared for deeply. Rita was a devoted Catholic who attended Queen of Peace and generously contributed to her church as well as many local charities and was active in several local civic organizations. Her family and friends remember her as a kind and thoughtful individual who was independent and admired by all who knew her. She loved all family gatherings, traveling the world over, dining with friends and family, playing bridge, attending PEO meetings and tending to her beautiful flowers. Though she will be greatly missed, we know that she is happily reunited with her husband Dan, son Danny, parents and big brother and sister-in-law John Joseph and Marguerite Gorman (Marguerite).
