Richard dedicated his life for many years to serving others as a firefighter and Instructor, embodying courage and selflessness throughout his career. Richard also proudly served in the United States Navy. His unwavering commitment to protecting his community earned him the respect and admiration of those who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Richard was a man of deep faith, guided by his strong religious convictions.
A devoted father and grandfather, Richard cherished his family and found great joy in their presence. His caring nature left an indelible mark on those closest to him, as well as the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by his loving family, including his mother Maria Guadalupe Esparza, siblings Susan Rojas, Michelle Bahena and Michael Bahena, children Jennifer Sandoval (Daniel Sandoval), Venessa Tellez (Jason Guzman), and Richard K. Bahena Jr. (Angel Bahena) and grandchildren Davian Moreno, Daniel Sandoval Jr., Idali Sandoval, Isabella Sandoval, Jose Pina, Ayana Bahena, Mia Tellez, Adan Bahena, and Marlee Tellez, who will cherish his memory and the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Alma Rosa Bahena and father Antonio K. Bahena whom he held dear.
Richard will be remembered for his bravery, compassion, and steadfast faith. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
Visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with Rosary at 6:00 PM, at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer St, El Paso, Texas 79904. Funeral mass will be Friday, December 27, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant Rd, El Paso, Texas 79924. Graveside service will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, 8700 Dyer St., El Paso, Texas.
