Ramon "Ray" Alvarez, 61, completed his work on earth according to God's plan on August 21, 2021. Our brave hero lost his battle to cancer surrounded by his children. Even heroes have to rest. His body is whole again, including newly earned wings.
A humble mentor, Ray was always the underdog's hero. He was a strong man who served his community well and with pride. His accomplishments were many. In 1977, he joined the El Paso County Sheriff's Department, fulfilling his high school dream. Ray was elected President of the El Paso County Sheriff's Association and served 2 terms. Always active, he was a member of Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas. Ray retired after 30 years of service. After retirement, he went back to school and earned a pharmacy tech license, then worked for a local non-profit. Sometime later, he worked for United Healthcare.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francisco Alvarez and one brother, Salvador. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life Veronica, sons Xavier, Dennis, Mauricio, daughter Crystal, sisters: Claudia, Clara, Rafaela, Cecilia and brother Ciriaco also by numerous cousins, nieces, nehews, four God children and three grandchildren.
We will grieve and miss him, but we will never forget him.
