Patricia Lorraine Delgado

In loving memory of Patricia Lorraine Delgado, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 23, 2023, at Kindred Hospital in El Paso, Texas. She was born May 23, 1954. She was the devoted wife of Manuel Madrid; loving mother to her sons Michael, Mark, and Joey Delgado; stepmother to Patty Perales, Diana Johnson, and Manny Madrid; grandmother to Christopher, Patrick, Marquis, Bridgette, Madeline, McKenna, Adrian, Danny, Sammy, Brooklyn, Aaron, and Nick; and sister to Elois, Claude, Teresa, and Bonnie.

Pat’s heart was like no other. She taught us all to be kind, to treat others fairly, to love unconditionally, and to be the best people we could be.

When we were kids, Mom used to play quarterback during our football games in that rare El Paso snow. She loved her Dallas Cowboys. She was “Granny Gums” to her eldest grandsons because of all the tasteless Double Bubble gum she used to chew. She was “Granny” or “Grandma Pat” to her younger grandchildren and was the best granny anyone could ask for. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved them to the end of the world and back.

Mom was an incomparable woman. She loved to read Nancy Drew mysteries and romance novels. She could never resist Texas Roadhouse dinner rolls or Lay’s barbecue chips. She took pride in decorating and redecorating and re-redecorating her home. Her children could always make her laugh, and her laughter was infectious.

A graduate of Andress High School and UTEP, Pat was a public-school teacher for over thirty years, first teaching P.E. at Schuster Elementary (she was “Coach Delgado” to so many) and then kindergarten at Western Hills. She spent the last ten years enjoying retirement with her husband Manuel, who she loved endlessly. We could not have asked for a more perfect wife, mother, and grandmother. Our lives will never be the same without her.

The visitation for Pat will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the vigil/rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. The memorial service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023, also at Funeraria Del Angel Central. Friends and family will gather to celebrate Pat after the memorial service at Edgemere Apartments Recreation Room, 6770 Edgemere Blvd, El Paso, TX 79925.

To our beloved Mom and Granny, you will forever be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so very much.
