While Tom and I were dating we had many conversations of family and our parents early lives. After a couple of months of dating I met my future mother in law, I was 21 years young. As time passed I developed the feelings of admiration, respect, and love for her, this lasting over 59 years. Mom B enjoyed much in her life, family, friends, career and dancing. Will always remember her chiffon dresses and her legs peeking out as she whirled and twirled. Also her generosity of self to her beloved family and friends. After Tom and I became engaged, we received weekly, a gift. To this day I still prepare foods in one of the many pieces of Farberware and freeze some in the many pieces of Corningware. An almost daily reminder of her thoughtfulness and love. Mom B was so proud of her husband, sons, daughters in law, grandchildren, and then her great grandchildren. Enough love for all. She is to be remembered as a kind, fair, loving, person who taught me much and will be missed always by this 21 year old now in a senior body. 

My memories of Mrs. Baumann begin when I was a young boy, 8 yrs old, 60 years ago. My family (the Sherbitz's) and her's would gather at their summer bungalow on NY's Long Island, This was when her son (Tom) and my sister (Barbara) were first dating. Tom eventually became my brother in law. It was an innocent, carefree, fun filled time.  I remember Mrs. Baumann's hearty laugh - she enjoyed a good joke and was quick witted. She was somewhat of a prankster herself, engaging in the slap stick type banter between her sons (Tom and Hank) and husband Henry who she sometimes called "Heni". I remember Mrs. Baumann as bright, confident, and sharp. A proud loving mom, she remained a business woman well into her 60's. She always dressed in fashion typical of the period. I remember Mrs. Baumann's attention to detail - it showed in how she wrapped presents with precision and how she created Ukrainian Easter eggs. Much more that just colored eggs, Ukrainian Easter eggs are works of art - meticulously decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs. I'm lucky to have one which to this day I keep displayed at home. Luckily Mrs. Baumann handed down the tradition to her granddaughter - my niece - Stacy Ann. As time went by, some of our core family members relocated to El Paso while Mrs. Baumann remained in NY - eventually she found her way to El Paso too. When I visited El Paso, I'd see her at Barbara and Tom's home or in her apartment at Good Samaritan. During her initial years at Good Samaritan, she remained independent, working on her Apple computer, engaged in several social activities. When she eventually transitioned to more assisted living, I visited her several times with my brother in law Tom. During one visit, a staff member asker her a question. Not exactly sure of the answer, she replied " ask my son Tom, he's so smart - he knows everything" She was right! Mrs. Baumann was loved dearly and will be remembered differently by everyone that knew her.  

Our Beloved Mother, The best way to describe our mother is, she was a caring, loving, joyous, sweet, and funny person. She laughed when happy, cried when sad. But always wanting us to be happy and have fun no matter what we were doing. Growing up thru the years we remember the good times we had on weekend outings and the holidays throughout the year. She was a wonderful, loving grandmother to our daughter Denise. We will miss her very much and always will be in our prayers and heart forever.
