Maria Mestas

María "Mama Mia" Mestas (26 de marzo de 1941 al 31 de marzo de 2022) vivió una vida hermosa y digna. Una mujer exigente de exquisito gusto, proporcionó consuelo y consoló mientras pedía poco a cambio. Su esposo, Espiridion, la adoraba y juntos enseñaron a sus hijos, Eduardo, Jesús, Guadalupe y María, integridad, lealtad y compasión, impregnándolos de la confianza necesaria para seguir la vida con un fervor generalizado y contagioso.

Mama Mia nació en Parral, Chihuahua, México, a sus padres, Cayetano y Rita. Ella era una de tres hijos y fue criada en un hogar muy humilde. Desde una edad temprana, Mama Mia ingresó a la fuerza laboral para ayudar a su familia con los gastos cotidianos.

A la edad de 20 años, Mama Mia conoció a su esposo, Espiridion "Pili" Mestas. Se casaron y comenzaron su vida en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México. Después de un par de años, se mudaron a El Paso, Texas, donde Mama Mia se desempeñó como ama de casa a tiempo completo. Durante este tiempo, Mama Mia y Pili construyeron su hogar para siempre en Sparks. Aquí Mama Mia se convirtió rápidamente en miembro fundador de la comunidad y conoció a muchos de sus mejores amigos. Mientras vivía en Sparks, Mama Mia dio la bienvenida a todos los que necesitaban ayuda y un nuevo comienzo. Siempre tenía sus puertas abiertas para alimentar a cualquiera con un plato fuerte de arroz y frijoles. Los niños alineaban la puerta de su refrigerador para beber su famoso té dulce. Su casa siempre fue un lugar para reuniones y muchos recuerdos felices.

Mama Mia se dedicó a educar a su familia con los valores cristianos tradicionales. Ella enseñó a todos sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos la importancia de tener una relación personal con Dios. Mama Mia también era una ávida feligresa e incluso comenzó su propio servicio de oración en su casa durante un par de años. Durante este tiempo, se conectó con diferentes organizaciones benéficas en la frontera para proporcionar alimentos y ropa a quienes lo necesitaban. Mama Mia siempre fue una gran defensora de ayudar a los demás.

Mama Mia pasó la mayor parte de sus últimos años sirviendo como la mejor abuela que uno podía pedir. Ella ayudó a criar a muchos de sus nietos cuidándolos con una mano severa y amorosa. Incluso hasta sus últimos momentos, Mama Mia estaba ayudando a criar a sus bisnietos.

Mama Mia amaba a su familia, las flores, la naturaleza y servir frijoles y arroz a sus invitados.

A Mama Mia le sobreviven sus cuatro hijos, Lalo, Jesús, Lupe e Isabel; todos sus nietos Aaron, Jazmine, Jackie, Jose, Edgar, Victor, Adan, Anibal, Abner, Larissa, Mayra, Michael, Daniel, Israel y Natalie; una gran cantidad de sobrinos; y todos sus amigos.

Mama Mia siempre estará en nuestros corazones, donde sus enseñanzas y memorias vivirán con nosotros por siempre.

Maria “Mama Mia” Mestas (March 26, 1941 to March 31, 2022) lived a beautiful, dignified life. A discerning woman of exquisite taste, she provided comfort and solace while asking little in return. Her husband, Espiridion, adored her and together they taught their children, Jesus, Eduardo Guadalupe, and Isabel, integrity, loyalty and compassion, imbuing them with the confidence necessary to pursue life with a pervasive, contagious fervor.

Mama Mia was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico to her parents, Cayetano and Rita. She was one of three kids and was brought up in a very humble household. From a young age, Mama Mia entered the workforce to help her family meet ends meet.

At the age of 20 Mama Mia met her husband, Espiridion “Pili” Mestas. They got married and started their life in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. After a couple of years, they moved to El Paso, Texas where Mama Mia served as a fulltime homemaker. During this time Mama Mia and Pili built their forever home in Sparks. Here Mama Mia quickly became a founding member of the community and met many of her best friends. While living in Sparks, Mama Mia welcomed all who needed help and a new beginning. She always had her doors open to feed anyone a hefty plate of arroz and frijoles. Kids would line up her fridge door to drink her famous sweet tea. Her house was always a place for gatherings and many happy memories.

Mama Mia was dedicated to upbringing her family with traditional Christian values. She taught all her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids the importance of having a personal relationship with God. Mama Mia was also an avid churchgoer and even started her own prayer service at her house for a couple of years. During this time, she networked with different charities around the border to provide food and clothes to those who needed it. Mama Mia was always a great advocate of helping others.

Mama Mia spent most of her later years serving as the best grandmother one could ask for. She helped raise many of her grandkids by taking care of them with a stern and loving hand. Even to her last moments Mama Mia was helping raise her great grandkids.

Mama Mia loved her family, flowers, nature, and serving frijoles and arroz to her guests.

Mama Mia is survived by her four kids, Lalo, Jesus, Lupe, and Isabel; all her grandkids Aaron, Jazmine, Jackie, Jose, Edgar, Victor, Adan, Anibal, Abner, Larissa, Mayra, Michael, Daniel, Israel, and Natalie; a great deal of nieces and nephews; and all her loving friends.

Mama Mia will always live in our hearts, where her life lessons and memories will live with us forever.
