Mr. Tapia was born in Red Rock, Arizona on January 22, 1934. He was a proud graduate of Bowie High School Class of 1953. Mr. Tapia was a member of the Bowie Alumni Association for many years. He was also one of the founders of St. Mark Catholic Church. Mr. Tapia was a truck driver for 37 years, 25 of which he was with ICX and 9 with Road Way Company. He was a man of numerous trades, sought by many for advice.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Gloria, to whom he was married for 69 years; sons, Manny Tapia (Lupe), Danny Tapia (Gloria), James Tapia (Rosie); daughters, Patsy Nieto (Enrique) and Norma Duran (George); 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2023 with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79936. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 12 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church 11700 Pebble Hills Blvd, El Paso, TX 79936.
Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Tapia, Jr., Jonathan Tapia, Christopher Nieto, Jacob Nieto, George Duran, Jr., Michael Duran and Anthony Duran. Rite of Committal will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery East 12400 East Montana, El Paso, TX 79938.
