Luz Elena Tarin

Luz Elena Tarín, age 87, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 surrounded by her family. She will always be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who lovingly raised a family, inspiring sons, daughters and grandkids to be faithful to God, to excel, to be compassionate and to be respectful of others.

Luz was born on April 25, 1936 in Valle del Rosario, Chihuahua to José Corral and Basilia Guzmán. She was the youngest of eight siblings. In her early adulthood, Luz worked as a telephone exchange operator in Valle del Rosario before she married the love of her life, Jesus Francisco Tarín in 1959. Thereafter, Jesus and Luz moved to Ciudad Juarez and ultimately migrated to El Paso, Texas where she dedicated her life to raising her family. She was devoted to protecting and raising a family of two girls and three boys and instilling in them the value of kindness, faith, service and compassion. She was loved by all who came to know her. Luz loved family reunions and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She will be greatly missed.

Luz is preceded in death by her parents, the following siblings - Atocha Corral, Esperanza Moreno, Celia Dominguez, Inglantina García, and Alba Lidia Tarín - and her son Hector Raul Tarín.

Luz is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jesus Francisco, her children Rosa Elvia Sotelo (Martin) of El Paso, TX, Luis Alfonso Tarín (Sarah) of El Paso, TX, Leticia Flores (Reynaldo) of El Paso, Texas and Francisco Tarín (Elizabeth) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by her sisters Adelina Olivas and Hortencia Bojórquez. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren to honor and cherish her memory.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Hillcrest Funeral Home located at 1060 N. Carolina, El Paso Texas 79915. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 7712 S. Rosedale St., El Paso, Texas 79915. A Graveside Service will then follow at 11:30 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907.
