Lilia Ruelas Delgado was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. Lily was a proud graduate of Austin high school’s class of 1969. Not only did Lily meet her high school sweetheart Tury at Austin, they would marry after high school, and continue on to have three daughters with 11 grandchildren.
Lily worked with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and 4H program. Lily had the privilege of helping many youth find their passion in school while learning to stay out of trouble as a community educator. During this time, Lily also grew a passion for helping the community by volunteering with various politicians.
Lily briefly lived in New Mexico where she would become a massage therapist and began to make jewelry. From there, she moved to San Antonio where she lived for the past 19 years. Lily was known for her outgoing, personality, talkative manner, and friendly ways. It was with the these traits, she made her lifelong friends. She never met a stranger. Lily loved dancing country western, was an avid bowler, and much more. Her number one hobby was attending every event for her grandchildren. Big or small, she was there. Lily will be deeply missed by so many.
Lily was greeted in heaven by her parents, Francisco and Petra Ruelas, brother Carlos Ruelas, husband Arturo Delgado, and grandsons Arturo Lorenzo Villegas and Jonathan Baca. Lily will be missed here on earth by her daughters, Patricia Baca (Albert), Rebecca Herrera (Robert) Isabel Delgado (David), her 9 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters.
Visitation for Lily will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 5:00PM-9:00PM with a vigil at 6:30PM at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Funeral mass will be held Friday, July 7th at 12:00PM St. Pius X Catholic Church with interment in Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
