Joyce Gibson Henry, 89, passed away on October 14, 2021 at her home in El Paso, Texas with family by her side. Joyce was born on June 27, 1932 in McAllen, TX, and was raised in Houston, TX. Joyce received a degree in English from Rice University, class of 1955, where she met her husband of 50 years, Donald Farrington Henry. Joyce was a loving wife and mother, and passionate about Bridge, gardening, and reading. She was often seen out and about shopping and searching for items to add to her many collections. Joyce volunteered in numerous local organizations, serving as President for both the local branch of the American Association of University Women and Coronado High School PTA, as well as serving as a Deacon for the First Presbyterian Church of El Paso. Her love of planning and hosting events was mirrored in her personal life. Joyce often opened her home to friends and family to celebrate special moments, cook favorite foods, and indulge in fun-filled games played late into the night, as loved ones so fondly remember. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Morgan Knight Gibson and Lennis Perkins Gibson, sisters Martha Roessler, and Sue King, and husband Don. She is survived by her children Donna Sue Henry Edge and her husband Ronald, Carol Eileen Henry Bohle and her husband John (Christopher), Alan Morgan Henry and his wife Carla; seven grandchildren: Cheryl Genn, Brian Edge, Heather Van Zant, Kathryn Bohle, Michael Edge, John Bohle and Aaron Edge; and eight great grandchildren; Julianne Venzor Bohle, Macie Van Zant, Colin Edge, Nathan Genn, Nora Van Zant, Declan Edge, Paisley Van Zant and Gideon Edge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of El Paso, Parkinson’s research, or a favorite charitable organization. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 North Resler.
