On June 10, 2022, the Gonzalez family lost their anchor, Joseph C. Gonzalez. No one could have predicted the circumstances in which he was called to Heaven, but if you ask anyone who Joseph was to them, the responses would certainly cause a smile.
Joseph was born in El Paso, Tx on September 1st, 1964 to Juan Leon and Paz Casillan Gonzalez. The youngest of ten, Joseph grew up in northeast El Paso. He played sports and loved the Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Lakers. In addition to being an avid sports fan, he spent time coaching girls’ softball for his daughters’ teams. Many will remember him as extremely competitive and passionate about any sport he was watching at any moment.
Joseph was also passionate about his career as a General Manager for Yum Brands, specifically Taco Bell. His competitiveness and drive helped him achieve several milestones over his seventeen years with the company. His employees and colleagues called him an example of a great leader and mentor, as well as a friend to all of those who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his nine brothers and sisters, his wife, Meredith Gonzalez, and his seven children: Elizabeth, Lindsey, Alyssa, Katelyn, Devin, Paulie Jo, and Joseph Oliver. He was also a dedicated Laki (Grandfather) to his ten grandchildren. Joseph loved to have family gatherings and was happiest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren, his devotion and love for his family was unmatched; family always came first, and Joseph embodied what it meant to love unconditionally.
You may join Joseph’s family for his viewing and Rosary at Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn (8817 Dyer, El Paso, TX) from 5-9pm on June 21st and the Funeral mass will take place on June 22, 2022 at Blessed Sacrament Church (9025 Diana, El Paso, TX) at 11:30am.
