Jose M. Quezada was born in Exeter California near Sequoia National Park, January 29th 1939. He grew up with his parents and many siblings in Lind Cove CA. in his younger years he learned about life on a farm and gained an appreciation for the railroad, which was where his father was employed. He graduated from Exeter Union High school and attended the College of the Sequoias.
In his early twenties he enlisted into the United States Army. He was a Quarter Master but also received training in basic firefighting and Chemical and Biological Warfare. He was assigned to various posts in Asia, North America and Europe. It quickly became clear that he had a special talent with languages. He was eager to enrich his understanding of each location and its people. This effort and ability to speak many languages was consistently recognized by his commanders as critical to his success. Among his awards he earned the Vietnam Service Ribbon with 5 service stars attached and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with a palm attached. He was said to be a pioneer in logistical concepts in which the Army utilized to modernize its supply chain in the years before he retired and since. He retired in 1983 having earned the rank of Master Sergeant (E8).
Jose M. Quezada will be remembered with love by his wife, Ursula Quezada and family members who reside in many states. He will also be fondly remembered by his many friends and neighbors.
