Imogen Moore James, died in El Paso, Texas on September 9, 2018. Born December 31, 1922 in El Paso, she was the widow of Fred Keith James. She was the daughter of the late Paul O. Moore and Imogen Leavell Moore and granddaughter of Charles H. Leavell, Sr. (who came to El Paso in 1906) and Emma Place. Her brother Tom Moore died in 2015.
“Jimbo” or “Jimmie” attended Texas School of Mines and Metallurgy (now UTEP), was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and graduated from The University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in English Literature. Marrying Fred in 1945, they moved to the Chicago area and Ohio returning to El Paso in 1957. They shared a love and an excellence in bridge, dancing, archery and bowling. During the 60’s, they were a host family for foreign military based at Fort Bliss. An active member of The Junior League in her 30’s as well as other community services, she also worked a few years as a bookkeeper for Fred’s general contracting company, F. K. James & Associates, and for The Jewish Community Center.
She is survived by her children, Frank James (Linda) of Santa Teresa NM, Paul James (Pam) of Wilmette Il, Ann James Massey (Henri Bérenger) of Paris France, Keith James (Ann) of El Paso, and Susan James Niehans (Paul) of Allen TX. She leaves five grandchildren, Jeanette Ordish (RC) of Mission Viejo CA, David James and Paul James (Izul de la Vega) of Santa Teresa, Anson James of Elgin IL, and Derek James of El Paso. Additionally, she leaves four great-grandchildren Kassidy, Marshall, Kennedy, and Rowan.
The family gives thanks for her dedicated caretakers: Elsa, Eddie, Nadia & Juanita.
There will be a visitation from 5 – 9 pm on Sunday, September 16th, with the funeral service to be held on Monday the 17th at 1:00 pm. Committal service will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Details are available with Kaster-Maxon & Futrell, 8817 Dyer St, 751-1287.
