Henry is survived by Spouse, Teresa Pavia-Medina, of La Union, NM, Daughter Melanie and Husband Jose Gutierrez, of Rowlett, TX, Sons, Josh Medina and Wife Vanessa of Midland, TX, and Dustin Medina and Wife Melissa, of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his Brother Alonzo Medina and wife Eva of Chamberino, NM, and Sisters Margaret Sanchez and Bernice “Bea” Chavez, along with a number of nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.
Henry was born on May 8th, 1946 in Chamberino, NM, the eldest of six children. He attended school in Deming, NM until his senior year of high school, when they moved back to Chamberino and he graduated from Gadsden High. Soon after graduating, he was conscripted into the US Army and sent to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. He was always proud to have served his country and could always be seen wearing any number of Vietnam Veteran shirts or hats.
A few years after returning to civilian life, he settled into a career at Rudolph Chevrolet in El Paso, TX, where he worked for 46 years before retiring as the Parts Department Manager. Henry would tell his sons of his memories roller skating around Gilette Chevrolet.
He married the love of his life, Teresa, on December 24th, 1983 in Mesilla, NM and they lived happily together in La Union, NM until his last days. Henry had his daughter Melanie prior to this, and Terri and Henry had two sons together, Josh and Dustin. Melanie, Josh, and Dustin were his pride and joy. He supported them in all that they did, and helped them to succeed every step of the way, in any way he could. He had a big heart and if they needed it, he was sure to do anything he could to help them get it. Even until his last days, his eyes never stopped lighting up when he’d see his Melanie.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique B. and Margarita A. Medina, his brother Frank Medina, and his sister Mary Lou Medina. Much like his children, he loved his family with his entire heart and would work tirelessly for them, if ever they needed it. Thank you all for sharing him with us.
Teresa and family would like to extend a thank you to the wonderful staff at the memory unit at Ambrosio Guillen Home for Veterans, as well as Pat at the front desk who was always very encouraging to Teresa during the toughest of times. They would also like to thank the El Paso VA, his doctors and all their staff. Dr. Roberto Quitos, JR. and his staff were a lifeline when they were needed the most. They would also like to thank Mr. Angel Berumen who would take every opportunity to visit and encourage Mr. and Mrs. Medina, even taking them lunch if he was working close by. Thank you so much to all the family that visited and prayed for us. Your strength and light carried us through more than you will ever know.
A remembrance ceremony will be announced at a later date.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MartinFuneralHomeWest.com for the Medina family.
