Dad grew up on a farm in Socorro, Texas. He attended Ysleta High School and was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 17. While in the Army, he was a heavy equipment truck driver and sharpshooter in the 24th Tank Battalion. He received six medals, The American Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct medal, EAME Campaign ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Army of Occupation Ribbon (Germany), Victory Ribbon (2 oversea service bars) and a World War II Victory medal. After serving in World War II, he attended and graduated from El Paso Tech. He then went on to work for Civil Service in Ft. Bliss as a Supervisor for the maintenance department and retired in 1985. He was an avid bowler and member of the Keggler’s Club. He loved doing home improvement projects for family and friends. He loved going to the casino and going out to eat! He was loved greatly and will be missed by all.
