Gilbert was born September 19, 1947 to Hector and Elena Amparan, both of whom were able to watch their son grow to become a kind, loyal and dedicated man who served in the Vietnam War. Gilbert was always willing and ready to help anyone in need and was loved and respected by all.
Gilbert graduated from Austin High School and attended UTEP and was actively involved in the community and over the years held many positions including: Commissioner – Boys Baseball of El Paso, Board of Directors – Boys Baseball of El Paso, Lifetime Member Concordia Heritage Association and Past Treasurer, Liaison between Association and Probation Department for Concordia, Tour Leader with Concordia Historical Tours and Double Purple Heart recipient having been a Member of the 1st Calvary Air Mobil Division.
He was self employed with Take Ten Refreshments, Corporate Limousine and held several entrepreneurial positions in his field.
He is preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind sister, Irma Ochoa (Armando), brother Hector Amparan (Norma), nephews Howard Hill (Kyla) and Paul Ochoa (Theresa) and twin grand-nephews Jacob and Matthew Ochoa. He also leaves behind several aunts and uncles as well as many cousins.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 15th at Martin Funeral Home Central Chapel where a Memorial Service will be at 7p.m. Funeral Service will be Friday, December 16th at 12 Noon at Martin Funeral Home Central Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central, El Paso, TX.
